All About Astronauts
Astronauts!
Students think about various professions and what they would like to be, when they grow up. I have been reading quiet about space, planets, stars and me being a part of it. Today, in this blog, I am going to talk to u about a very exciting profession, Astronauts.
Do you know: who an astronaut is?
An astronaut is a person who is trained to travel to space.
Astronauts are almost like scientist, not exactly, but kind of. Astronauts are also known as cosmonaut, which means sailor of the Universe. They research about space, some trained Astronauts also go to space and do various researches and try to find new things over there. Isn't that exciting?
Astronaut's life
An Astronauts life is pretty hard and interesting at the same time. During their journey to space, they have a limit to food, water and waste. Astronauts have to continue living and working while they are in space. While Astronauts are not in space they have to attend meetings, write reports and have to go to training sessions, similar to any other office worker. Astronauts also study about planets, solar system, galaxies, stars and more about the universe. They travel in a spacecraft, work in space, and do activities related to human space exploration.
Some cool facts about space and Astronauts
Space is a very different environment then Earth, so Astronauts have to be trained really well to go in space. In space, time goes slower then Earth. Right now in 2018, it takes about 1 year to get to mars.
Expectations from NASA to be an astronaut(2018)
To be an astronaut in National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) you need a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Biological Science, Physical Science or Mathematics, plus a 3 year professional experience or 1000 hours in pilot-in-command, time in jet aircraft and pass all training's that they ask for. For example, you have to jump in water from an high level, you need to spend 1000 hours in one place if you hadn't, you need to be trained to stay without gravity and more. You also need 20/200 vision uncorrected or better, correctable 20/20; blood pressure 140/90 when sitting, and your height needs to be between 58.5 and 76 inches.
About Astronauts over the time
About 536 Astronauts have been on space so far and only 12 of them have been on the moon. About 18 Astronauts have died in space. 3 Astronauts also got lost in space. So it is not easy to be an Astronaut. Luckily now, it has got better and they do so many safety checks before anyone goes to space but there are still chances of getting lost and death. But at the same time, to be successful, one is ready to take that chance and complete the mission with honors.
Conclusion
When I grow up I want to be an Astronaut and try to find life on mars. I also want to try to make life on mars and make it possible for humans to live on mars. What would you like to be when you grow up?
